Jamie Duane Ellis Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time Chickasaw student enrolled at an accredited two- or four-year college or university who is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in criminal justice, police science or an equivalent major. Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Jamie Ellis devoted his life to service. He was a first responder, an avid outdoorsman, a brother, son, father, husband and a Chickasaw citizen. He lived with purpose and a servant’s heart. He led with grace and intent, always keeping a steadfast smile. He loved life and would always provide a quick joke to lift the spirits of those around him. He was a shining example of Chickasaw values in heart, mind and effort.

The Family of Jamie Duane Ellis

Jamie was gifted in working on nearly anything with his hands. He could tear something apart, troubleshoot it, and put it back together even better than before. He served many communities in selfless and helpful roles such as police chief, assistant police chief, reserve sheriff’s deputy, volunteer firefighter and assistant security manager.

Jamie believed in the importance of education, and was close to graduating with a degree in criminal justice when he passed away in 2020. He would be humbled and honored to know students were able to attend college, obtain their degrees and pursue their dreams because of a scholarship in his memory.
