Sulphur Facade Standards: PDF

This program provides funding assistance for storefront improvements that conform with the design standards developed by the Chickasaw Nation and are permanent in nature.

Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Buildings physically located in the Downtown Sulphur Business District, hosting a business that was operational prior to April 27, 2024.
  • For-Profit and Non-Profit business
Compliance:
  • Projects must be completed and submitted for reimbursement within 12 months of the date of the qualification letter or by October 31, 2025, whichever is sooner. Extensions of the reimbursement period will be considered on a case-by-case basis, via written request of the applicant.
  • Businesses will only be allowed to submit for a grant once.
  • For grants for work that has been already completed/started, applicants are eligible if the work was completed/started after May 1, 2024.
  • The street level of the business location shall not be zoned residential.
  • Cannabis business are prohibited.
  • All awarded funds shall comply with the Sulphur Facade Standards.
  • All awarded funds shall be limited to restorative design, material, and labor costs related to the building's street-facing facade only.
The Chickasaw Foundation will evaluate the following criteria to determine the monetary value that you may be awarded:
 
Contributing Downtown Presence
Quantity of above-ground levels, linear length of street-facing façade(s).

Relevant Historical Significance
Certification from the National Register of Historic Places, relevant physical characteristics contributing to historical significance.

Level of Damage Incurred
Ranging from surface-level damage to total loss.
 
Future Business Aspirations
Additional consideration will be given to owners that illustrate restorative development supporting accessibility, health, safety, and welfare.
