Kenneth Comer Scholarship
This scholarship is for a full-time, Chickasaw graduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university seeking to be a licensed professional counselor or licensed drug and alcohol counselor. Preference will be given to recipients also seeking certification as a certified problem gambling counselor. Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
OAPGG established this scholarship in memory of Kenneth Comer, who was a volunteer for them.
OAPCG had hired interns from the University of Oklahoma that were working on their Master’s degrees in counseling, and the last intern hired was Kenneth Comer. Sadly, Kenneth succumbed to cancer one year after graduation. In his memory, OAPCG established a scholarship through the Chickasaw Foundation for Master’s degree students interested in the field of professional counseling. It is Dr. Harwell’s hope that recipients of the Kenneth Comer Scholarship will not only remember Kenneth, but they will return the favor by helping others.
