Volunteer Spotlight: Laura Cope

Volunteer Spotlight: Laura Cope

Each year the Chickasaw Foundation has several volunteer opportunities, primarily through reviewing scholarship applications; and each year Laura Cope is quick to lend her time and expertise.

“I eagerly accepted when asked if I’d like to assist in reviewing scholarship application,” Cope explained. “Helping students overcome financial barriers to pursue their college degrees is deeply rewarding to me.”

Cope, who has served as the lead licensing investigator for the Ada Office of the Gaming Commissioner for nearly eight years, is incredibly passionate about serving the community, and reviewing scholarship applications is one avenue of doing that because she knows the impact it has. “Having recently earned my MBA/NAL, I understand the significant impact of college expenses firsthand.”

For Cope, reviewing scholarships is also her way of giving back. “My two sons attended college simultaneously, and we were incredibly grateful for the scholarships they received, which helped ease that burden. Now, I am glad to give back by supporting others in their educational journeys.”

Cope continued: “Volunteering brings me joy, especially knowing that my efforts can help others succeed.”

Outside of the office, Laura enjoys quality time with her family, going on cruises, and immersing herself in a good book.
