Foundation Footnotes: October
Foundation Footnotes: October
A great deal has been done in the brief amount of time I have been President of the Chickasaw Foundation. This monthly update -- “Foundation footnotes” -- is a unique way of communicating how we are advancing our mission every month. In light of that, let me highlight three areas that are huge priorities/successes for the Foundation currently.
One, our Sulphur Storefront Improvement Grant. With the help of the Chickasaw Nation and other consultants, this initiative is running full speed ahead with several Sulphur business owners receiving life-changing funds--with more to come! We gave people the opportunity to donate to this cause (and it is still up); many donated, and for that we are thankful. If you contributed, you can know you’re part of the rebuilding and recovery process.
Two, the 3rd annual Chickasaw Foundation Golf Scramble. In a year of transition, it would have been easy to place it on hold. But CF staff did an incredible job by bringing in over $23,000 of revenue. Those funds make a tangible impact in the life of Chickasaw families and friends -- and you can swing the club around while doing it!
Three, our scholarship program. After a successful comprehensive application with more than 65 recipients, we just awarded two more worthy Chickasaw students through the supplemental application. That was Rheysa Ross, the recipient of the Marcella Burke Family Flourishing Scholarship for Students with Children; and Elisabeth Reynolds, the recipient of the Colbert “Bud” Baker Memorial Scholarship.
We look forward to hosting the Expressions in Art Auction on November 15th at the Ada Chickasaw Community Center, a come-and-go event from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
